Portland 2015: Festival Announces Lineup And The SonuvaZombiefilmmaker!

The third annual Portland Film Festival happens from September 1st through 7th this year. With a program featuring 80 narrative and documentary feature films and 134 short films the festival announced their feature film competition programs, opening and closing screenings, music and midnight sections, tribute presentations, northwest, and special screenings.

The narrative program will include World Premieres of Sridhar Reddy’s 6 Angry Women, Hooroo Jackson’s Aimy in a Cage, Heather de Michele’s As Good As You, Sophie Mathisen’s Drama, and Tebogo Malope’s For Love & Broken Bones.

“Portland audiences are the most enthusiastic, film-savvy crowds in the nation, and we’re proud to bring them a stellar festival schedule this year.  We’ve created an incredibly diverse and large program of films and events that honor cinema legends, celebrate new approaches and experimentation in film, and showcase the best in contemporary cinema,” said Josh Leake, Portland Film Festival Founder and Executive Director.
Of special interest to genre and horror fans, there will be a Guinness Book World Record-setting film shoot. George Cameron Romero, son of the Godfather of the Dead, George A. Romero, will be shooting his film Zombie Day Apocalypse. It will be a live all-day Labor Day event featuring several thousand festival goers as extras in the Guinness Book World Record-setting film shoot, The event will include a night time screening of a surprise zombie film.
One of the special tribute events will honor doll artist Wendy Froud, who was on the team who helped create Yoda for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. She also worked on the Jim Henson films Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.
