T- Minus 3… 2… 1…
We have lift off!
Well, isn’t this just exciting! Welcome to Romero Pictures’ Indie Brigade Drone Cav! Starting right now, you are going to find this to be a jam-packed resource for so many facets of drone tech and cinematography as it evolves and changes at the speed of light. The cool thing is it’s all being tailored to YOU!
That’s right. While there are about a zillion generic online blogs and news sources on drone stuff, our focus is on how to bring these tools right into your hands and onto the set of your indie films. Aerial drone work has plenty of unique elements for our craft and business so it’s about time we have a forum for it!
While the aircraft, software, editing tools and cameras keep getting better and the cost more affordable, the right drone can be an incredibly valuable tool to have in your quiver. That is, if you know the right ins and outs. There are also lots of logistical things to know too, so we like to keep things well rounded and cover lots of different facets.
Knowledge Is Power
No matter what your experience with using drone cinematography is, there is plenty to learn here. Trust me when I say doing it right can get a little complicated.
Here, we are going to be doing deep dives into thrilling elements such as FAA regulations and legalities, insurance and the business side of things. Yeah, I get it… it’s not all that exciting on the surface but there is no room for taking chances with safety and there are plenty good reasons for the rules. This will give you, as a producer, a good basis for knowing whether you want to ‘wing it’ (pun intended, mmmm hmmmm) and do the flying yourself or hire a pro drone operator who knows the ropes.
And what about all the different brands and models of drones out there? Are you ready to just pop into a store or jump online and pull the trigger on a new flying marvel? Well, don’t blink because there will be something new released before you put your credit card away.
We will be talking lots about popular drones and the pros and cons of each. Is bigger always better? Well, stay tuned and find out!
Once you get in the air, how do you set up the camera to get the best shots? You guessed it, tons and tons of content coming on this subject. Shooting while flying is a pretty unique thing to do, wearing two hats and all, so we will be getting into flight planning and even dress rehearsals for aerial shoots.
Tip O’ The Iceberg
Aaaannnnddddd…. there you have it.
These are just a few highlights of subjects and topics that we will be bringing you regularly to help propel your cinematography to the front of the pack.
There are so many things we have slated to cover and there is always something to take away that you can use right now! This ain’t gonna be your mama’s blog, so get ready to have fun while you learn how to crank up your production to 11!
Romero Pictures’ Indie Brigade Drone Cav is super stoked to flick on the spotlight and be your guide to elevating your work. And hey, this is not a one-way street. We’d love to hear your feedback and if there is a special topic you’d like covered, be sure to ping us!
