Literally, the world’s first online-only fan convention, Romero Pictures’ Heavy Metal Indie Brigade streamed over 16 hours of live interviews, panels and demonstrations with some of the biggest names in the indie and horror worlds on March 28th&29th of 2020 in response to real world conventions being shut down.
The Indie Brigade(TM) was lightning in a bottle. A podcast platform that brought indie artists together with seasoned professionals from the entertainment industry to teach, laugh, work and collaborate.
As with all lightning in a bottle, it was short lived, but in its short life, the Indie Brigade grew to become a mindset among those who were part of things.
A mindset dedicated to the indie spirit so well marked by George A. Romero and filmmakers of his time and carried into the present and the future by those willing to accept what it means to be an independent.
While the podcast network and Romero’s show have gone into the sunset for now, the way of thinking goes on.
