A writer's process is sacred and hallowed ground. It cannot be shaken, changed or challenged. The problem is that a writer's process tends to appear, to the rest of the world, as though we aren't doing anything at all.

Sometimes a writer sits in silence, cooks, gardens, exercises, plays a video game or any one of a number of things to help focus their mind and their thoughts.

And if you're like me at all, every time you sit down to write the entire universe throws everything it's got directly at your focus center.
